What I’m Asking For This Vlogmas | #VLOGMAS 01
I love YouTube traditions so much. You know I promote and (mostly) participate in VEDA (Vlog Every Day in April/August), and now I’m thrilled to be a part of Vlogmas – a longtime tradition to vlog for the 25 days leading up to Christmas.
To start the year, I began with a month-long challenge to vlog every day leading up to the launch of my first book, Vlog Like a Boss: How to Kill It Online with Video Marketing. How appropriate is it that I’m ending the year in the same way it began!
(Want even more content? I’m also doing Podmas, a term that I may have made up. I’ll be going live with an episode each day on my podcast, Vlog Boss Radio. I’m giving you 25 day of YouTube tips to inspire you to join in on the craziness that is my life.)
What I’m Asking for This Vlogmas
There are so many people you can follow, subscribe to, and watch. People are constantly asking you to give them attention, and many times, we put our focus on what someone else is doing instead of what we should be doing ourselves.
Giving your attention away comes from a place of asking for permission. It doesn’t matter if I’m on the stage speaking or making a video on YouTube, I find myself (in some way) giving you permission.
Where does asking for permission come from?
I know what it’s like to be a perfectionist and to try to find the right way to do things. Sometimes when I’m in a perfectionist state-of-mind or when I’m seeking a path from the “experts,” I’m getting permission from the person who knows.
In some ways, we’re all seeking some kind of permission, right!?
For me, it’s a big responsibility to give you permission to do something. This is not something I take lightly, and I’m honored to use my voice and to have the authority to give you this permission. While I don’t plan to stop doing what I always do, I want us to move past the permission-asking stage. How are you moving past the GET PERMISSION stage of your life and into the TAKE ACTION stage?… Click To Tweet
This Vlogmas, I want you to know that you are in complete control of your next step and your life. It doesn’t have to start tomorrow for you to know – truly know – that you are in control. I’m asking that you know you already have permission. Make the ask for the thing so you can finally take the step to move forward.
Stop asking for permission and start asking for the thing that’s harder to ask for, whatever that thing is for you.
What do you need to ask for?
Is it making a call to action on your website?
Is it asking for a job recommendation?
Is it going to a conference to learn more?
2018 is going to be bigger and better than ever. There is so much more to come and I can’t wait to be a part of this with you. It’s time to stop doing things that aren’t leading you to success. It’s time to stop asking for permission and to start taking action.
Here’s what I really want to know: What are you not asking for?
Take the time to truly answer that question so you can go after the life you want.
