About Your Attitude…

At any given moment, I’m thinking of a million, bajillion things. I’m thinking about Vincenzo, my to-do list, Lucy, what’s for dinner, what I’m packing when I travel next, what book I’m reading next, and so many other things.

Then, it inevitably happens: someone tells me to smile.

I’m not here to tell you to smile, but I do want to remind you that your attitude matters. Attitude really matters when other people are involved, and honestly, other people are always involved.

When I come across people who aren’t going after the life they want or who aren’t in their dream job, I know that their mindset might be different from mine or from someone who is proactively working to go after the life they want.

Sorry, Bruno, you can’t fix your face. But, you can be aware of your attitude.

I love what I do, and I truly look forward to living my life every single day. I am, however, aware that my walking-down-the-street-face might not reflect the happiness inside of me because my brain is processing other data points.

I do, though, have a good attitude.

So let me ask you this: what is your attitude like on a regular basis? Are you living for the evenings and weekends? Is it obvious from your attitude that you wish you were doing something else?

Your attitude has a big impact on other people’s lives. If you’re in a job that you don’t love and your attitude is reflective of that feeling, people will see it and that’s what they will think of you. You’re making your job even harder by having a bad attitude.

Don't make your job harder by having a bad attitude.… Click To Tweet

I am an introvert, and when I meet people, I don’t have my introverted hat on. Being an introvert is not an excuse or a crutch for me. I show up to have a great time, authentically interact with people, and my attitude reflects that I’m excited to be there. Because I am.

Even if every day is hard and no matter where you are in your life, give yourself and where you are a little bit of respect by allowing the people around you to interact with you in a positive way.

It’s no one else’s fault if you aren’t in the place you want to be. It’s on you to have a good attitude, to work hard in your current position, and to give it your all as you’re moving toward your next chapter.

People always remember how you make them feel. I believe it’s truly about the attitude when you’re going after the life you want.
