MY GAME-CHANGING MOMENT
In the last 7 years, I’ve been working every day toward going after the life I want to live. When I first realized the power I had in myself to do that, it was a big ah-ha moment that changed everything. In partnership with the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, I want to share what that moment was for me that completely changed the game in my life.
The game-changing moment of my life was just like any other moment: I was helping someone with their computer problem.
A friend, Alison, asked me if I knew how to make something happen in her Facebook account based on the privacy settings she needed to set up. I took care of it in a couple of minutes and that was that.
She said “Wow. You would be so good at this.”
I had no idea what she was talking about. “Good at Facebook? Pretty sure most people are at this point.”
That wasn’t true. It was 2009 and most people were just figuring it out. Not just people, but businesses too. Alison went on to explain that some of her graphic design clients had also started hiring social media managers (most of her clients were on the west coast where they seem to pick up all the cool strategies early.)
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing so I looked into it. I became obsessed. I had found something I loved and was inherently good at that could be a potential career.
And then, it was.
That moment changed my life because I realized I could do something I was passionate about and just had to put in the work to make it happen. I immediately started a side-hustle business and went on to leave my full time job less than 2 years later. I haven’t needed Plan A since.
Thank you to the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio for inspiring me to share my game-changing moment and for hosting two incredible game-changers at their annual Keyholder event: Billie Jean King and Lisa Ling. I’m so excited to be attending thanks to this sponsored post and I’d love for you to join me.
