Some news this week about Google Plus hashtags this week that they will be available for viewing in Google Search. For Sexy Wednesday, I thought I would share my thoughts on this new feature and how it might apply in the everyday search situation.
Watch G+ Hashtags in Google Search:
So basically if you decide to check out the results for a hashtag in Google Search, you will get your typical search results as you would like to see them and along side of that, there will be a ticker of what’s happening in that hashtag activity on Google Plus. Definitely helpful in the way that it kind of offers you a one stop shop for everything going on in that search activity without having to check two places including the links to those activities on other social networks: Facebook and Twitter.
I love that they’re making their search engine better and more social, however I don’t know why I would opt for a search engine when I want to know what users of a social platform are talking about within hashtag activity. If I want to know what Google Plus is talking about, I’ll go to Google Plus. Same goes for the other networks. I wasn’t necessarily pleased with what I saw in the search results to begin with, so I’m more likely to go directly to the source.
Nice to see hashtags becoming a more integral part of our online society. As if it weren’t already. Interesting idea, Google. But I think I still like doing it my way.
