Finally back into the swing from my vacation with a new video and I’m so excited to have a great customer service experience to share. Foursquare is one of my favorite social networks, for a lot of reasons — even if they aren’t very social. So when someone offers me something cool for using it, I’m really happy.
On my trip I stayed at a fantastic hotel, Aava Whistler Hotel, in Whistler, Canada. I didn’t really think anything of it when I went to check in on Foursquare after I arrived and all of a sudden there was a check in bonus: free parking.
What?! That’s crazy! Parking there cost $19 per day! And they’re going to give it to me for free because I’m using this social network?
Yes. That’s what they did. They give it to you for free every day that you stay there, even if it’s for a whole week. And all you have to do it check in once.
The amount of value that they weigh on people with a social media presence and the word that they’re going to spread about your company is worth much more than that 20 bucks per day that they would have made on you. Realizing that as a company is a huge step in the right direction for being a social friendly place, as well as one that understands what the small things can mean to a customer.
Giving discounts isn’t what social media ia all about. But leaving an impact is. And this left one on me because I thought this particular perk was extremely generous and Aava knew what they had to do to get me talking about them.
