Ricky Anderson runs the Stewdippin channel on YouTube where he talks about all kinds of hilarious nerdy stuff. He’s really done an amazing job networking and getting to know great people in the industry which has helped his brand grow. So I thought he could share some tips in that arena so you know how to do it too without feeling dirty and spammy.
1) Don’t be spammy (Don’t worry… we’ll tell you what that means)
Canned messages and bulk emails are NO way to get people interested in you. So stop doing that. You’re doing nothing but hurting yourself and the impression you’re leaving on potentially amazing industry acquaintances.
2) Cultivate a relationship with the people you can really help
The most important thing to remember if that you’re never going to get value from anyone if you can’t provide it first. That’s the best way to build a relationship, so think about what you can do to help way before you have expectations in return.
3) Get Nerdy
No one should be more excited about your brand than you. Be passionate about what you’re doing and what you stand for so that people will remember you for that and not as someone who is just spamming with emails and business cards. Ew.
How do you network to leave a good impression and give value?
