Ah conferences. I love getting to meet those who make it a personal goal to bring home as many business cards as will fit in their checked luggage. Really impressive. And I want to cut them.
So here is a quick tip vlog where I give the 411 on what business cards are actually for and what you should be doing with them on the regular to improve your network:

Amy you are so right on but you knew that! Your explanation reminded me why the business card is not a dead tool for businesses to use. I often get asked this question as a branding and designer if they need a business card. It's nice to show off some style on that card too...it always helps build trust, credibility and professionalism but using it not to spam others but to connect is the real use of the card. Great vLog!
@Andrea Robinson Thanks Andrea! The business card is totally not dead. It's great to be able to hand someone information when you meet (especially so they can take notes on it in case they think they'll forget something). Thanks for the comment!

I made a youtube video about business card etiquette back in early December. You might find it usefull. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCIPFn0nPvw
I want to cut them too!! lol
My fave is when people just shove their card under your nose. Not so much as a cold handshake before they are pushing "Their next big thing." I want to cut them with their own business card.
Go for the big fish and always, always, always follow up. So is "Ptch" like SocialCam?
@larrysnow Yes. Very similar. But they let you work with multiple assets. So you could have a few video clips, pictures, etc. and string them together with music and title sequences.
